It was my idea after all, taking the girls up to the burn pit with us. They wanted to run all morning, and we had a few big boxes to get out of the way, so why not run the girls beside the pickup, like we always do, while getting rid of the boxes! Halfway there Nathan says "I'm surprised one of the girls hasn't found a jackrabbit to chase..." we both laughed and then he says "Our luck, she'll find another damn porcupine" which is what happened last year and 100+ quills later, she is now back to normal. Right after talking about the critters the girls find, we were at the burn pit, got our boxes out of the back, and I look over to Libby going nuts on this skunk. I screamed so hard at her, she quit biting it, it sprayed, and then she ran over to us. PEW!! That smell just gets into your nose and it stays put....yuck! We ran them back to the house and while Nathan is telling me about how rabid skunks are this time of year, I was a bawling mess. We put Libby in her kennel in the back of the pickup, while Jade got put in their regular kennel with their doghouse. Well, these two are never separated, so poor Jade was so confused and sad, whining for Libby. With Nathan on the phone to our vet, I was sitting in the kitchen bawling, trying to spray everything down with FeBreze, and lighting candles. We knew that Libby hadn't been bitten, just sprayed, and since she just had her yearly shots a few weeks ago, our vet said she was good to go. SO...on with the bath to deskunk her! Here is a few pictures of the fun Nathan got to have...
Before this Stinky Sunday, we had been having a wonderful weekend together. Friday night we went to Marley & Me, again! We had seen it over Christmas with my parents, but since it was in Bowman, only 50 miles away, we had a date night together! On Saturday we went on a cold and windy fourwheeler ride, relaxed a bit, and then took Rex and Cheryl the two red roans that we've been riding, over to Painters. Calving starts in a couple weeks for heifers at Painters, and in a month over here, and those two horses needed to be ridden! So for the next few weeks Nathan will be riding them over at Painters in their indoor arena, and hopefully he'll get a few roping lessons too! So after a fun afternoon of riding, and me just watching, which is still fun, we had a relaxing evening.
On Friday, February 6th we'll be heading down to Spearfish for our 7 month checkup and one last ultrasound, and then we'll be meeting my parents and staying in Keystone for a weekend spent at the stockshow! We're very excited for them to come out and visit! This will be the last time my dad sees me before I have the baby, since calving back home will be starting up soon too!
We took this before going out on Friday night!
Here we are! Almost 28 weeks (7 months) Everything is going good, and I'm excited for our last ultrasound on Friday! We will start our appts every two weeks after Friday! We have a little mover on our hands, always kicking at his mom! :)
We hope that everyone is enjoying this Superbowl Sunday! Nathan has play practice and then we're planning on eating steaks, homemade rolls, and a good dessert while watching football! Enjoy!
