One Year Old

One year ago today I was a tuckered out girl, a new mama, and boy was my life changing before my eyes! All for the better of course!

Gunnar had come into our world and has been the best thing that's ever happened to us. Every day he amazes me, melts my heart with his smiles, and breaks my heart with the few tears that he has. He has been the most easiest baby ever. Yeah we've had our moments, but for the most part the kid is always just along for the ride!

Of course he was stubborn from the start, not showing us at 20 weeks what HE was, then when it came time for him to arrive, he decided to come sunny side up, which is the hardest way to deliver a baby. He also gave me 21 hrs of labor, and 2 1/2 hrs of pushing, so in a way I deserved an easy baby, don't ya think?? :)

8 lbs. 21 inches long a year ago!

Now a days, he is weighing in at 21 lbs (our scale measurement) and is around 31 inches long! Always being in the 95% for height, and lower % for weight, our string bean baby is long and lean! There hasn't been many foods that he doesn't like, even though it took 3 LONG months of trying baby food everyday for him to finally finish ONE jar in a sitting! Oatmeal with a fruit for breakfast, along with Squash and Peas for lunch, would rank as his favorites. He goes bonkers for Lil' Graduates Veggie Dip Crunchies, and has always been a champ at nursing. 100% breastfed baby here, never once had a bottle or formula, and I'm very proud of that fact! Got by with one cold in a whole year, and teething is going on with number 7 in progress!

I could go on and on, bragging about our lovable lil' Gunnar, but most of all, we're blessed to have HIM as OUR SON. We love you Gunnar, you are amazing, and we see life in a whole different way because of you. Happy 1st Birthday!

Birthdays!

Our 3 Birthdays all fall within one month of each other. Nathan's is March 27th, Mine is April 10th, and Gunnar's is April 30th, which means A LOT of celebrating for the Wagner's! We're approaching Gunnar's 1st birthday, which I cannot wait for! Gifts are being wrapped, food is being prepared (mentally) and party supplies are coming out of the shopping bags! On Friday Gunnar will be ONE, with his party being on Sunday! All family members are invited, and some close friends, hopefully the weather will cooperate and we can be outside grilling, and eating cake and ice cream!

Since I've been slacking with my blogging, I'll start with Nathan's birthday. We were on the road for his birthday, but at least we were all together. The weekend we went out to Buffalo to get our horses, and drop Jade off to get bred, was Nathan's birthday. Lucky for him, my parents bought us Larry the Cable Guy and Bill Engvall tickets in Sioux City. We went to Chili's to eat first, shared a dessert, and then went to the concert, it was a lot of fun! My birthday on the other hand, Nathan was gone for. He was in Fargo picking Jade up, and I was helping my Mom set up for her art show, which featured her pictures. Needless to say, no celebrating has gotten done yet, but the most important party is yet to come, Gunnar's! :)

Our acreage hunt is getting frustrating, and we're looking at going down the "renting" aisle again. There is a nice acreage to rent, which would get us by until we find something to buy. The nice red house acreage didn't work out, which really really upset me, but if Nathan's not happy, there is no reason to live there! The fact that it was right on a busy hi-way didn't fit us too well, that and it being a 1929 house which needed plenty of work. Speaking of hi-ways, I'm not a fan of them. When we lived in Harding County, at Painters, we had 16 miles of gravel to the ranch, one way. We LOVED it. In the middle of the prairie, in our own little world. Now that we're at my parents for the time being, we're right smack on the hi-way, and I hate it. You always have to watch our "girls", Libby and Jade, to make sure they don't go hunting onto the road, and everyone can always see what and where you're at. Anyway, unfortunately Jade wondered onto the hi-way a week ago and got hit. I was in the computer room at 7:30 am heard the sound of what sounded like a shotgun shot. I immediately ran out to the front door and saw her rolling across the lane. Rolling like when you shoot a coyote and their back end drops, this is what Jade was doing. I ran out that door so fast, screaming, crying, and not remembering ANY of this due to adrenaline rush. Needless to say, she came away with two bad cuts and a very sore body. We're praying she keeps her puppies, and since it's too early to ultrasound, she has an appt for May 10th, and we'll know for sure if she's bred or not. Seriously the worst thing I've ever experienced. Our girls are like kids to us, part of the family, so I was pretty shook up. The lady that hit her said she saw her come out of the ditch, and tried to slow up, so Jade was lucky. If it would've been a trucker who didn't care, they would've just hit her. Anyway, it was quite the scare and I'm glad she is healing up to her regular self! Just another reason that we'll hopefully never live right on a hi-way!

Well, with Gunnar's birthday right around the corner, I'm sure my next post will be his party pictures! He is such a blessing, and watching him grow everyday gets to be more and more fun, frustrating at times, but I do know that I have the best job ever, raising our beautiful son!

Some Goodbyes, Closure, and Easter Weekend

Well, as you can see, I've been slacking on blogging and updating Facebook pictures. BUSY, I have been. With calving here, and us STILL living in my parents basement, I try my best to help outside with the cattle as much as possible. I've learned how to drive my Dad's new payloader, and have even loaded a couple buckets of wet cake into the feederwagon, I know, I know, impressive! Anyway, every day from 4-7ish I help out with chores and new babies, while Grannie Annie (my mom) watches and feeds Gunnar his supper. It's working out great, I get a great workout in, while helping my Dad, plus a small break from Gunnar. Nathan's job is going good still, and with him getting a raise already, that was the icing on the cake! The acreage hunt is on every minute of every day, and while we went and looked at my dream farm house with LOTS of potential, the foundation seems to be bad, and my hopes are slowly fading away again. A professional will be going to check out the situation tomorrow, along with Nathan and my Dad, so hopefully they come back with good news, that being only a few blocks need redone and BAM, a good foundation is back-HA! Let's hope so, because I really really really am already mentally picking out paint colors, decorations, and figuring out landscaping ideas, yes, this is really how in front of myself I do get! An update on the acreage will come after finding out the answer to the foundation. So we'll back up to last weekend...

Easter 2010. My FAVORITE Holiday. Springtime in the air, baby calves, and soft pastel colors, my one time to dress up and act like a lady. I had on a new and beautiful dress that my Mom and I picked out for my birthday gift. Gunnar was dressed up in his Sunday best, along with my hubby looking pretty handsome if I do say so myself! We had Easter at my parents, with my aunt and uncle from Pocahontas coming, along with my Grandpa and Grandma Foreman. Afterwards we went up to Mike Modrell's where we rode Rex and Cheryl, which leads me to back up...again!

The weekend before Easter we left Friday morning for Belle Fourche. We were staying with Kit and Kayla Bramblee at their home in Belle, left Saturday morning to go to Buffalo to get our two horses that we bought from Painters! Finally they were coming home with us! After getting to the ranch and getting the horses, we had to say a hard goodbye to Jade, our yellow lab. Of course it wasn't a forever goodbye, it was more of a see you in two weeks after you are bred-goodbye. That's right, Jade went to Montana with a guy who had a stellar yellow male, named Tank. They are going to make beautiful babies together! :) Buffalo worked well to meet at, so after two weeks of being with Tank, now Nathan is driving to Fargo this weekend to pick Jade up. Fargo is the halfway point. Anyway, most likely in 66 days we will be having the most adorable lab puppies, and I cannot wait! Jade is going to make such a great mama! So once Jade is back, we'll have EVERYTHING and EVERYONE here in Iowa with us! Going back to Buffalo I thought was going to be the hardest thing ever, but in all reality, Nathan and I got total closure from being there one last time. Now we can continue our journey here in Iowa, knowing that everything is taken care of, and we only have the memories left of Harding County.

Gunnar news:

He is now 11 months old. The countdown is on to his FIRST birthday! I look back at the last year, and am in awe at how fast it's gone, and how much he's grown! Everyone says how fast the time goes, but I didn't believe it until it actually has been happening! He is into everything! He wants to walk, but instead scales the room from one item to the next. The other night I left him alone for 2 seconds to start the bath water, came out to the livingroom to find a hiding Gunnar, behind the couch, being as quiet as a mouse! My heart dropped for a second when I couldn't find him, and then I heard the little stinker! He can now crawl steps, thanks to his Dad showing him how to do that! He literally runs in his walker, and if you are in his way, he just hits you with it. He is such a blessing, and I always wonder what I did with ALL of my time before him. He has to be the most happiest and easiest baby, who rarely cries, but is starting to show his temper. Birthday plans are in the making for a party being held on Sunday, May 2nd since his birthday lands on a Friday.
