Baptism Weekend

A week ago we took our first family roadtrip to Iowa! We found out our Explorer is too small, and that the trip goes much faster when we have something else, like a baby, to concentrate on! The trip did go fast, as did the weekend. We pulled into my parents house around 6:00 on Friday night, went to Cushing so Nathan could have fish to eat, and then headed to bed. Saturday morning was a busy morning of trying to get ready for another wonderful baby shower, hosted by my amazing aunts on both sides of the family! It was held at the church, and what a turnout of people! It was so fun getting to visit with family and friends, along with some high school friends who came, that was so great getting to see them and their kids! After the shower it seemed like Saturday flew by! With Nathan's family arriving at Mom and Dad's, and everyone getting to meet and hold Gunnar, the day flew by! Sunday was Gunnar's baptism, and what a special day, with Pastor Egger doing the baptism. We chose Evan and Caitie as Gunnar's sponsors, and we know we couldn't have picked two better people! After church, close friends and family, along with Pastor Egger, headed to the basement for a YUMMY dinner made by our family. The day seemed to fly by and before we knew it, it was time to go home. Before heading back, we stopped at Else's. Else's hold a special place in my heart, since I babysat for them for many years, starting when Montana was 3 months old. It was so great to spend some time with them, and Shelly being the great person she is, had been working her tail off on an amazing project for Gunnar. A quilt made just for him. All 3 of her kids, Michaela, Montana, and Madeline have their own quilts, and here she made one for her other BIG kid, who now has a baby of her own! :) I have pictures on Mom's camera, so I'll post a picture of his quilt another time.

Monday morning got here, and boy were we tired. We headed out for the long trip home. We stopped in Parkston for Nathan's grandma to meet Gunnar, and then kept on trucking. We got home around 7:00 Monday night and Tuesday Nathan was back to work. A short week with Nathan leaving for the Shadehill this morning (Friday morning) for a fishing tournament and my Mom getting here last night to help me out with Gunnar!

Our life...

Our lives have been changed..forever! All for the better of course! Gunnar Sage is a wonderful and amazing baby. We couldn't ask for a better baby in fact! He is an eater, and with the size of hands and feet this boy has, might turn into a big guy, like his dad! He loves to sleep, thank goodness, but defiantly is a morning person, just like his mama. He wakes like his dad, long stretches, slow to open his eyes, and then bam...ready to eat! :) We are discovering something new every day, but with our teamwork, we know we'll be just fine in the adjusting process.

My Mom left on Friday May 8th, and it was a very sad day. She was a HUGE help, and we appreciated everything big and small that she did. It was time though, I needed to learn to do things on my own, and so far everything she taught me has come in handy! Good thing I've had such great roll models growing up, my parents are amazing.

Gunnar went to his first branding on Saturday! Our neighbors invited us over to their branding, and since the weather was so nice, we decided to go. Gunnar slept right through all the cows bawling for their babies and it was fun watching all the calves get branded and vaccinated. It was a great opportunity on my part to get out and sit in the nice weather too!

This next weekend is Memorial Day weekend and we're heading to Iowa!! I'm so excited, it's been since December since we've been home, and it's Gunnar's baptism. The church that I grew up with, in which I was baptized, confirmed, and married in, is where we'll have Gunnar baptized at. I couldn't be more excited to go home, and for Evan to meet his nephew! Keep us in your thoughts and prayers, Iowa is around a 10 hour trip, and with a newborn it could be a long haul! So far he's been a great little traveler, and hopefully he likes this trip!

The weather is finally cooperating, so we've been taking walks with Gunnar and the girls. I even ventured out by myself the other day and it went good. We love our carrier we bought, it's been the best buy so far! All in all, we're all doing excellent and praying everything continues this way! We hope this little update finds everyone doing just as good as well!

No more waiting

This is my first time writing, but I figured since Erica is tired from delivery and all that goes along with a newborn I'd take over this time.

Wednesday, April 29th we had another check up and Doc told us it was time to deliver this baby. Erica was induced around 3:30 PM and began the marathon labor. At 12:28 PM, Thursday, April 30th, Gunnar Sage Wagner arrived. He weighed exactly 8 lbs and was 21 inches in length. Grandpa and Grandma Andresen and Grandpa Wagner were there to visit on Thursday. Everyone was very tired and excited at the same time. Its definately been a while since I've stayed up for 40 hrs straight. We stayed at the hospital until Saturday since we live so far from the hospital. We arrived home Saturday around 4 PM. This week has been relaxing and tiring, but all in all everyone is doing well.

We had our first check up with Gunnar on Monday and learned that he had put on 20 0z. since Saturday. Needless to say he has an appetite like dad.

We feel so blessed to enjoy this miracle and couldn't ask for a better experience.
